What we collect

• A random device ID. Created in your browser’s local storage the first time you play. It is not linked to your name or email.
• Game results. When you finish a puzzle we store your guesses, whether you solved it and when, tied to that device ID. Your streak is kept only in your browser.
• Usage analytics. We use PostHog to understand how people play: pages viewed, games started and finished, the guesses you type, share and signup clicks, plus browser, device type and approximate location derived from your IP address. Analytics data is stored in your browser’s local storage, not in cookies.
• Your email address, only if you subscribe. It is stored by our email provider, beehiiv, and used to send the GuessBite newsletter. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
• Server logs. Our hosting provider (Vercel) and database provider (Supabase) process IP addresses and request logs to run and secure the service.

How we use it

• To run the games, check guesses and show results.
• To see which puzzles work and improve the games.
• To send the newsletter you signed up for, which may include sponsor messages.
• To prevent abuse and keep the service secure.

We do not sell your personal information.

Service providers

We share data only with providers that help us run GuessBite: Vercel (hosting), Supabase (database), PostHog (analytics) and beehiiv (email). They process it on our behalf under their own privacy terms. Some of them are located in the United States.

How long we keep it

Game results and analytics are kept while they help us run and improve the games. Your email stays on the list until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it.

Your choices and rights

• Unsubscribe from email at any time using the link in any email.
• Clear your browser’s site data to remove your device ID, streak and analytics identifiers.
• Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it. Email [CONTACT EMAIL — PLACEHOLDER] and we will respond within the time the law requires.

Children

GuessBite is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we will update this page and the date above.
